2021.12.05 17:55 AppropriateMess88 We bought a small mechanic shop and current employee is a hoarder. Advice needed.
My husband and I spent $70k on a 2 bay shop. In the purchase we bought the shop equipment, customer database and 2 of the current employees. 1 of which is only staying until the birth of our first child in March of 2022.
The other employee is a 61 year old “mechanic” (or what we would call a skilled parts changer). He is proficient enough in every day tasks like oil changes, brakes, and suspension work but is utterly useless when it comes to major work or diagnosis. DH wanted to keep him to help with basic services while he gets the shop in order.
DH is an amazingly skilled master technician and works very cleanly and is meticulous about being organized. The shop was a disaster, completely cluttered in broken tools and equipment , used parts that cannot be resold, scrap metal, trash, used engines, and obsolete tools that take up copious amount of space.
Little did we know, the current mechanic working there has a hoarding problem that the previous owner, not being a mechanic and hardly there, left unchecked for 7years.
We thought it would be just cleaning the place up and organizing the tools and equipment and it turned into cries of “I have no place to put my “stuff” and I’m going through tough financial times and cannot afford to take it anywhere else. We are left with very little space to work, put stocking supplies like oil and filters, and even the waiting room/office is filled with essentially junk.
DH is not without empathy. He helped him fix is truck (replaced fuel pump), has been patient and helping him organize his tools so he can bring his tool box in, and even paid him on the clock to do these things. At this point, he’s been paid more to clean and fix his own car than actual work.
This employee is a good person and a hard worker but he is affecting profitability and at this point, holding the company back with his hoarding issue and unwillingness to adapt to company changes. DH is breaking his own back picking up all the slack just to be able to afford the shop bills and payroll, all while taking home very little profit just to make sure his guys are paid.
We understand there wouldn’t be much profit in the beginning and accounted for this in our budget. And with the baby being due in 14 weeks, the extra help around the shop is much needed for the time being. But at this point we are at a loss for how to approach this guy in a way where he doesn’t shut down or get defensive.

2021.12.05 17:55 IAmDaven To people trying not to AFK by creating a Macro, I understand... But I still hate you.
People I know are creating macros so they don't have to deal with getting kicked from the game and I completely understand where they are coming from. I have been trying to play for days and I wish I never logged off. However, knowing there are hundreds if not thousands of players using macros and staying online for 24 hours while the rest of us are staring at error code 3001 and 2002. Man it just really grinds my gears.
Oh and don't get me started on Gilgamesh, because now our queue position is permanently stuck (I've seen 10 posts on this and I'm in the same boat, position 3,679 for 30-40 minutes)

2021.12.05 17:55 vernity4 Teenage boy who gets trained to be a spy and goes on various missions
I searched everywhere on the internet and cannot find this specific series I’m looking for (I even tried akinator and had no luck lmao). It was about this boy (teenager) who trained to be a spy somewhere in America. This company only trained children and then when they completed training sent them on various missions. I think the mc’s name was James but I’m not sure. (there were multiple books in this serie, it was quite long) Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

2021.12.05 17:55 kingbirdy State of the Subreddit December 2021
Introduction Hey everyone,
It's almost the end of the year, and I think it's a good time to assess the current state of the subreddit, as well as some potential changes. It's been a big year for the series, with the release of Dead or Alive, Apocalypse Kings, and the Grimoire this spring. The subreddit has seen substantial growth as well, increasing our subscriber count by over 30% to almost 8.5k. At our current rate, we're on track to cross 10,000 subscribers next year. The volume of posts and comments has only continued to climb as well.
Meta / off-topic posts As part of this growth, there's been an emerging trend of "meta" posts - submissions that are about the subreddit and its users, rather than about the series itself. Clearly, some users really enjoy these posts and participating in the subreddit community. However, these posts are also often reported as "not relevant to SP" and we're seeing an increase in users unsubscribing, so it's tough for us to tell where the community wants the line drawn between having community-oriented posts and keeping the subreddit about our favorite skeleton detective. Our current approach has been to take a fairly light hand with moderation and to mostly allow upvotes/downvotes to dictate (particularly in the time between books, when there's less to discuss), but as we continue to grow that approach won't scale, and so we'd like to get a better idea of user sentiment. As such, the first question on the survey (below) is about meta posts and how they should be treated. If users indicate they dislike them or wish to see less of them, ideas we're considering include a weekly pinned lounge post for community chat, or a dedicated day of the week where the posts would be allowed.
Survey As mentioned, this post includes a survey to get the community's feelings on meta posts, as well as any other ideas or suggestions you have for the subreddit. Also, please keep in mind that you shouldn't wait for surveys like this to provide your feedback! You can at any time send us a modmail with your feedback or suggestions. At the end of the survey, there's also an optional demographics section, to help us better understand who's using the subreddit. You don't have to fill this out in order for us to consider your feedback, and we won't consider your feedback differently based on your demographic response.
PLEASE FILL OUT THE SURVEY HERE: https://forms.gle/qxCtPfFgpu1o6ftR7
This survey also includes a section for...
Moderator applications The subreddit has grown quite a lot since the last time we increased the size of the mod team, and will only continue to increase. As such, we're considering adding at least one new mod, maybe more. Anyone interested in becoming a moderator should fill out all fields on the form, and should be a user with an active post history on the subreddit, in good standing with the mods and the community, who has availability throughout the week for moderating.
In Conclusion Thanks everyone for making the sub bigger and better than ever this year! We look forward to seeing what 2022 brings for both the subreddit and the skull-man. Have a happy holidays, please fill out the survey, and keep an eye out with another post with the results after we see responses slow down.

2021.12.05 17:55 OyugiHack I missed Pistol Perks until late game!
I just now, after playing my campaing for 200 hours give or take, figured that you can scroll down in the soldier ability screen, and THERE ARE actually pistol perks in LWOTC!
Always found it a little strange that pistols are so underused, i agreed with the fact that they are too good in vanilla WOTC - where you would send your sniper in to take out the big guy quickly with a pistol - but taking the skills out completely suprised me.
So after noticing it absurdly late, i now have spent most of my APs for my high rank soldiers, none of them a pistolero. Are there other classes than the sniper for whom you would recommend taking one or more of the pistol perks? Could go nicely with a Templar - his MP does count as a pistol right?

2021.12.05 17:55 kkslider55 Some more pictures from inside Build-A-Bear during Chris Sky's protest
| Sorry about my potato quality phone, and I wish I would have taken more pictures, but I also wanted to be cognizant of the scenario. |
I was in Build-A-Bear with my girlfriend, we somehow had no idea about the planned protests. We were about halfway through the process of making a bear when Chris Sky's people decided a children's store was where they wanted to take their stand. They started yelling loudly and seemingly trying to force entry, and Build-A-Bear ended up closing their gate until the police arrived.
The kids inside got pretty scared from all the chanting, quite a few of them started crying. One of them ran to the back of the store where we were, and was crouched down crying. An old blonde lady (you can actually see her in the picture accompanying the global news article) managed to slip in, and was shoving cameras in everybody's face, including into the face of one of the little girls who was crying. She then started trying to give money to the kids who were crying, to get them to stop. Probably because making kids cry is a bad look, even for them.
I saw Chris Sky hauled off by the cops in his Santa outfit. Funny enough, I actually had no idea who he was, I only learned about him after reading the news report. There was definitely a very large amount of booing from the gathered crowd when he was arrested.
One thing of note, is that the owner or manager on shift of Build-A-Bear did a pretty terrible job of dealing with the scenario. At first she kept lifting the barrier to let a couple of the maskless protesters in, seemingly in violation of their own policy. Even after the cops showed up, she lifted the barrier to let that blonde woman in again. I have no idea why she thought letting them in would be conducive to the scenario. The blonde woman ended up pissing off one of the mothers of the crying kids, who got in her face and confronted her, and then the blonde lady fled out of the store and stayed out.
They definitely weren't just peacefully protesting. They were making kids cry, sticking phones in people's faces, and when the gate was closed, they were rattling it. I also saw a person get physical with the cops at one point.
It was pretty wild! I definitely didn't think my visit to Build-A-Bear would be the most memorable part of the trip haha, and it also taught me that I need to be a bit more engaged with local news so I can avoid this kinda situation again. We're both adults so it didn't leave much of an impact on us, but I feel horrible for the kids who had their day ruined.
